The Fire
Investigators Association of New Zealand Incorporated (FIANZ) is a profession
society for individuals involved in some way in the investigation of
the origin and cause of fires, and the investigation, prosecution and
suppression of arson in New Zealand. Instances are fire scene investigators
(Fire Service, private etc), Police officers, private investigators,
structural engineers, solicitors, insurance claims staff etc.
The
Objectives and Purposes of FIANZ as contained in its Constitution are:

unite, for mutual benefit, those public officials and private individuals
engaged in the determination of fire cause. |

To
provide for an exchange of technical information and developments,
and to be a focal point for educational, social and developmental
relationships between members and organisations. |

To
encourage co-operation and between public service agencies and private
enterprises and associations, to further the suppression and prevention
of fires in New Zealand. |

To
encourage the highest professional standards on conduct in fire
investigators. |
| 5 |
To
foster and promote greater professional competence of fire investigators. |
